David P. Dooley, M.D., is the Associate Chief of Staff for Education at the Audie Murphy VAMC.  He is an internist and infectious disease specialist who still attends in clinic and on the inpatient medicine wards.  Dr. Dooley is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and of the Washington University School of Medicine.  He did his internal medicine and infectious disease training at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio.  He served 26 years in the Army, ultimately serving as the Chief of Infectious Diseases at BAMC, as the Program Director of the Infectious Diseases Fellowship there, and as the Infectious Diseases Consultant to the Army Surgeon General.  Following military retirement, he was appointed to his current position in the VA.  His research interests are in general infectious diseases as well as quality improvement efforts.
